Zero Waste Target for Tartan Heart Festival at Belladrum

Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, in partnership with Pat Munro Waste Services and the Carbon CLEVER initiative at the Highland Council, is aiming to become the first zero-waste to landfill festival in Scotland in 2015.
Last year, the festival generated 100 tons of waste – that’s about the weight of an adult blue whale! This year with the full support of Pat Munro Waste Services, the festival will be aiming high with the intention being that nothing goes to land fill.
Veronica Symonds, Pat Munro Waste Manager, commented “Here at Pat Munro we are up for the challenge and have set ourselves the ambitious target of ‘Zero Waste to Landfill’ at Belladrum 2015. We believe it can be done and together with the organisers and the Carbon CLEVER Initiative we will be going all out to achieve it. Of course we will need the help and support of all the festival goers, so we plan to get the message out as far and as wide as we can leading up to and at the festival."
The first of these initiatives was launched last week, a schools based project Keep Bella Tidy! The Super Coo Project. Based around the ‘Superhero’ Belladrum theme this year, pupils have been asked to turn the wheelie bins into crazy Highland Cows, Supercool Superheros or a mixture of both! Each participating school from the Highlands will design, source and create 2 “Super Coo” wheelie bins for Belladrum Festival 2015. The winner will be announced after 5th July 2015 and the design put to print.
