Pat Munro Surfacing is one of the North of Scotland’s leading surfacing contractors and our expertise extends to road surfacing and maintenance, footpaths, driveways, car parks, hardstanding in commercial, retail and industrial settings as well as reinstatement, streetscape and carriageway construction. We have been producing and laying asphalt to exacting standards, in accordance with British Standard and National Highways Specifications, since 1972.
Our Work
Our road surfacing team carry out a wide variety of work including road repairs to both the trunk and local road networks, road maintenance such as inlays and overlays, road patching and pothole repair on footways, footpaths, car parks, railway crossings, factory access roads and hardstanding areas across the Highlands of Scotland.

We work for key clients including The Highland Council and Scottish Water, as well as all Civil Engineering Contractors. In addition, our client base also consists of numerous Highland caravan and holiday parks, hotels, distilleries, Estates, Farms, and countless Highland businesses. Highest Quality Standards & Accreditation
We hold National Highway Sector Scheme approval for NHSS 16 - laying of asphalt mixes ensuring that the material meets all the necessary specifications for local and trunk road networks.
Our Team is trained and qualified to the highest standard, with all of our team members qualified to the relevant SVQ standard with CSCS cards, as well as relevant plant operator competencies proven through MPQC or CPCS accreditation.
Asphalt & Road Construction Materials
Our surfacing teams are supplied with high quality asphalt and road construction materials from our own Quarries in Alness, Dornoch, Inverness and Elgin, as well as our Coating Plant in Alness.
Our surfacing plant consists of our own internal fleet of five pavers of varying size, with associated compaction and ancillary plant such as rollers, JCB’s, chipper, bond coat sprayer and planer. This plant is also available to hire on a self-drive or operated basis.
Haulage & Delivery
We deliver materials using Pat Munro's own fleet of specially designed insulated lorries, with plant delivered using our fleet of low loaders. Delivery schedules are coordinated between the quarries, the haulage team and the surfacing team to maximise efficiency and guarantee the asphalt road surfacing materials arrives on site in the best possible condition.
