We are delighted to announce that Lauren Bonner, our Junior Estimator, has won the award for “Regional Apprentice of the Year - Scotland North” and was also runner up for “Apprentice of the Year – Scotland” in the CITB Apprenticeship Awards 2018.
CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) are a social enterprise business whose mission is to attract and support the development of people within the construction industry.
After being nominated by her CITB Apprenticeship Officer, Lynne Reid, and then selected as a shortlisted finalist from a pool of over 14,000 apprentices across Great Britain, Lauren attended the awards ceremony in the wonderful venue of Merchant Taylors’ Hall in London on Thursday 1st November, hosted by Mr George Clarke – architect and tv host, best known for The Restoration Man, Amazing Spaces and The Homes Show.
Being selected by the judging panel as a regional winner and national runner up is testament to the hard work and effort that Lauren put into her CITB apprenticeship in Civil Engineering during the first two years of her time with Pat Munro, and she is now continuing her training with a graduate level apprenticeship at the University of the Highlands and Islands.
Speaking about the awards, Lauren said:
I’m delighted to have won Regional Apprentice of the Year - Scotland North and runner up Apprentice of the Year - Scotland. I was pleased just to be nominated for the awards and to be in the same room as so many other talented construction apprentices, so to win the awards was such an honour.
The hands-on experience that apprenticeships have to offer allowed me to develop skills and training that enhanced my University studies as well as my confidence in the workplace – I would strongly recommend anyone to do an apprenticeship.
I would really like to thank the CITB, especially my Apprenticeship Officer Lynne for all the support throughout my apprenticeship and Pat Munro for supporting me continually through training and personal development.
I look forward to learning new skills and developing further in the Construction industry!
