Pat Munro completed the 13,000 square metre reinforced concrete hardstanding in August 2015, following the clients £19M newly reconstructed south quay.
The Pat Munro package included delivery of a new surface water drainage system together with full retention petrol interceptors out falling into the Cromarty Firth, supply and installation of the heavy duty Concrete Hardstanding to facilitate Port activities and carry out a tarmac road extension linking the existing service road to the new quayside.
Throughout the work, Pat Munro was able to call on its vast array of in-house resources, which gave it a major competitive advantage. Sand and gravel aggregates from its quarries went to make up nearly 4,000 cubic metres of its own ready mixed concrete, delivered by its haulage department. All on-site works were carried out by its own construction teams, using state-of-the-art plant and machinery in which it has invested significantly over the last few years.
The project was undertaken in phases in order to maintain port activities throughout the works allowing Oil related sea cargo to use the port as well as Oil Rig berths for maintenance and repair.
